As a Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will be responsible for performing therapeutic procedures including care of patients on ventilatory support, aerosolized medications, bland aerosols, chest physiotherapy and all other aspects of repiratory care. Completes departmental patient care records on assigned patients. Performs diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas sampling and anlysis, pulmonary function testing, and assisting physicians with bronchoscopy. Evaluates therapy for effectiveness and appropriateness and confers with other members of the patient care team regarding the most beneficial respiratory care plan for each assigned patient. Prioritizes procedures when necessary. Documents respiratory therapy according to department policy. Pursues a program of personal and professional development. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, having the ability to assess data reflective of such patients' sttus, identifying each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and applying the principles of growth and development of such patients. By maintaining high standards of excellence,helps the Medical Center fulfill its mission by providing compassionate care and respecting the dignituy of others. Applies the principles of “continuous quality improvement“ which includes working cooperatively with colleagues and projecting as service orientation toward all. Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
Graduate of accredited 2 year program in Respiratory Therapy; or graduate of accredited 1 year program and successful completion of special skills assigned by Director of Cardiopulmonary Department required.
Familiarity with usual equipment and Therapy used in Respiratory Care required.
