Job Summary:

The Intermodal Planner is responsible for executing the drayage, rail route selection, and proper equipment utilization of all Intermodal shipments within an assigned geographic territory while successfully managing to the customer's expectations. This entails planning several factors (outside drayage, rail selection) in order to maximize efficiency and profitability.

Essential Job Functions:

* Responsible for optimizing all pickups and deliveries within an assigned geographic dispatch territory in order to exceed customer service expectations and maximize dray savings.

* Drive network equipment balances and efficiencies through proper routing and equipment selections.

* Drive proactive load planning and optimization reducing same day load recovery.

* Utilize reporting dashboards to identify trends in un-bid business to secure consistent and reliable dray capacity while considering service and cost.

* Utilize critical thinking and problem resolution to provide innovative solutions for repetitive service challenges within your assigned geographical territory.

* Identify opportunities to improve carrier utilization through daily tactical appointment adjustments.

* Work closely with Account Management and carrier management to identify innovative operational solutions for our customers.

* Through weekly reviews, develop solutions for underperforming lanes and carriers that will help create future business opportunities for high profile customers.

* Duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time.

* Bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required, in Business, Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain.

* Two or more years of operations experience in the truckload or intermodal segment, is preferred, but not required.

* Must have excellent communications skills - interpersonal, verbal, written, and be able to interact well with others in a team environment as well as with our customers and vendors.

* Proficient with Microsoft Office products including advanced Excel skills.

* Organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to establish and prioritize workload in order to meet team and company goals using good business judgment.

* Must be able to lead and manage competing priorities by multi-tasking and meeting all deadlines and flexibility with continually changing priorities while providing high quality customer service.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities as well as flexibility to adapt to change with new systems and methods while working in a team environment.
