This position will be responsible for related revenue cycle management tasks for the purpose of maximizing accounts receivable collections for clients. Areas of concentration include, facilitating incoming calls from patients in order to quickly address questions and resolve claim concerns. This may also include, charge entry issues, contact information, potential coding problems and follow up with insurance companies. Position may review claims, handle correspondence, appeals and denials; inevitably, provide excellent customer service to clients and client patients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Strong customer service skills; answering client, patient and carrier calls; prompt return and follow up to all interactions; prompt response to requests for information.

* Responsible for proactive positive communication with patients; handling their sensitive medical information in a professional and detailed manner; careful, confidential and conscientious with specific claim information.

* Interacts and contacts insurance companies for claim status, reviews insurance claims and patient documentation, ensures appropriate coding, handles correspondence, and makes appropriate decisions for follow-up action.

* Effective at handling several priorities and multi-tasks with various patient issues, ensures maximum accounts receivables.

* Confirms charges are entered into the medical billing system accurately and correctly for reimbursement. This includes, but is not limited to, correct CPT codes, modifiers, and ICD-9 codes, authorizations for services, patient demographics, and health insurance data.

* Reviews patient registration, insurance, and third party payments in the medical billing system; including a thorough knowledge and understanding of medical EOBs, patient deductibles and co- pays, and insurance or third party correspondence, contractual payments and adjustments.

* Achieves goals set forth by supervisor regarding error-free work, transactions, processes and compliance requirements.

* Other duties as assigned

Experience/Training/Education:

* High School Diploma or GED

* At least two years of experience in same/related field

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Extensive knowledge on use of email, search engine, Internet; ability to effectively use payer websites and Laserfiche; knowledge and use of Microsoft Products: Outlook, Word, Excel. Preferred experience with Microsoft: Access and PowerPoint, Crystal reports and various billing systems, such as NextGen, Pro and Allscripts
