Piedmont Geriatric Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated individual to serve as a Recreation, Music, or Art Therapist. PGH is a 123-bed psychiatric hospital for individuals aged 65 and older. Patients at PGH present a variety of psychiatric conditions, including dementia, serious depression, and psychosis, among many others. The Recreation or Music or Art Therapist will assess patients' needs, develop and implement treatment plans, provide person-centered group and individual activities, and collaborate with the treatment team in developing creative interventions to address patients' needs, as well as complete documentation for assigned patients.
The successful candidate will have: Knowledge of principles of Therapy assessments and their application to treatment and ability to modify interventions based on patient response Knowledge of the dynamics of the therapeutic relationship and group therapy The ability to provide therapeutic experiences that assist the patient to utilize and enhance their strengths, improve coping skills, and foster hope Current professional certification or be eligible to obtain certification within 6 months of hire
- Possess a degree in Recreation, Music, or Art Therapy from an accredited college or university, (highly preferred) -Previous experience working in a clinical setting -Previous experience working with older adults and/or individuals with mental health issues
