Your Opportunity: Corporate Graphics Commercial, a Taylor Corporation company, seeks a Technical Solutions Consultant to help set the visual style and verbal tone for the yearbook division. If you’re an ambitious creative excited about transition and unafraid of a high bar, we want to hear from you! Bring your journalistic, design and teaching chops to our team, helping to set us up for success. You’ll be part of bolstering a culture where people can learn, experiment and excel.

You should:

  • Possess the hands-on design, writing, editing and production skills to execute ideas yourself
  • Be able to lead a project team whose members may need your design, copy or production leadership
  • Already stay on top of trends, especially in the competitive scholastic journalism space
  • Consider the reader in your work
  • Create with empathy and seek to meet any audience anywhere

Our yearbook division speaks with a visual voice: Typography, colors and space showcasing carefully chosen words. Help us to continue to translate our story.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Help shape how we present ourselves in both print and digital platforms
  • Work alongside the creative director to raise our bar even higher
  • Enforce a specific visual language, verbal tone and brand coherence across products and projects
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing and technology disciplines to tell our story in ways that resonate with target audiences
  • Teach and encourage junior members of the team
  • Develop visual-forward products that lead the space and inspire customers
  • Rely on a keen design sense and an eye for detail
  • Abide by the APStylebook
  • Demonstrate proactive problem-solving and management of projects from concept to completion
  • Adapt art and design for digital and social platforms
  • Stay informed of product developments, innovations and changes in the yearbook landscape
  • Use research and insights to identify new opportunities and understand customer attitudes
  • Develop digital marketing and instructional content

You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design or education, including coursework in typography, editorial design and education theory
  • 3-5 years of agency, in-house, or relevant classroom experience
  • Success producing publications and sensing trends in competitive scholastic journalism
  • High-level experience in editorial design, art direction and typography as well as contemporary reporting and storytelling techniques as they relate to scholastic publications
  • Sophisticated typographic skills and taste level
  • Impeccable journalistic instincts and standards
  • An understanding of the power of a brand and experience championing the brand and the big idea with sales, product, tech and marketing disciplines
  • A portfolio that impresses and inspires
  • Writing (APStylebook), storytelling, communication and presentation skills
  • Expert-level InDesign proficiency with strong Photoshop skills
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven workplace
  • Affinity for keeping up with trends and innovations and sharing those with our team
  • Self-motivation with a positive attitude and influence on the organization
  • Ability to establish priorities and maintain multiple priorities and tasks at one time
  • Hands-on yearbook creation and advising experience
  • Working knowledge of print production, digital marketing and curriculum development
  • Self-starter who thrives working independently, shows willingness to learn and grow and meets deadlines
  • Must take creative direction well
  • Ability to push yourself and other members of our team toward innovative solutions
