Mobile Maintenance Mechanic


The Mobile Maintenance Mechanic works independently or as a team member under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager and will be assigned site specific commercial properties. The incumbent works as a skilled generalist and performs at a journey level in one trade with strong skills in other trades to perform a variety of skilled preventive and general maintenance, repair, construction and renovation work on facilities and systems, particularly in mechanical facilities equipment and systems including HVAC and plumbing systems, to ensure a clean, safe and attractive environment. The incumbent uses a computerized maintenance system to ensure the preventive maintenance program objectives are met.


* Performs at a journey level in at least one trade and assists with basic and advanced level maintenance and minor repair work for various trades including HVAC/Controls, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and lock.

* Performs various types of preventive maintenance and routine maintenance work to include: motors, pumps, fans, controls, duct work, drains, meter readings, condensate sampling, filters repairs, and general cleaning. Identifies problems and needed repairs.

* Uses hand and power tools for the completion of various types of preventive maintenance and maintenance related repairs.

* Works with other trade workers and shops, as needed, for completion of repairs and maintenance work.

* Inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations.

* Read, interpret and work from blueprints, plans, drawings, and specifications; make rough sketches; and estimate cost, time and materials of maintenance, repair and renovation work.

* Disables and clearly identifies (lock out and tag out) unsafe equipment, and immediately notifies appropriate personnel.

* Records work details in log sheets, and keeps time records to assists in completion of documentation. Thoroughly and accurately complete reactive and preventive maintenance paperwork per location.

* Use computerized maintenance management programs and building automation systems.

* Operates state vehicle and equipment to include; utility cart, scissor lift, boom lift and forklift (as certified) to be used for maintenance, delivery of supplies, tools and equipment to job site.

* Responds promptly to urgent calls in order to prevent catastrophic equipment failure, injury, damage or further incident.

* Provides response to Service Desk to responds to facility services related emergency situations and miscellaneous trouble calls as assigned

* Responsibly for inventory of shop tools

* Thoroughly and accurately complete reactive and preventive maintenance paperwork per location.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements



* High school or GED


* Technical school graduate.

Job Knowledge/Experience:


* 3 years' experience in commercial maintenance of buildings.

* Knowledge and overall understanding of commercial building systems.



* Valid Driver's License with clean driving record.

* Possesses required state and local licenses.

Language/Writing/Communication Requirements:


* Ability to keep simple records of activities performed and complete basic reports.


* Excellent troubleshooting skills.

* Ability to read and understand blueprints and other technical documentation.

* Ability to maintain good working relations with other staff and building tenants.
