Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist Patients in applying for help with prescribed medications. Submit applications to Pharmaceutical Companies and dispense medications to patients with appropriate authorization from Providers. Request refills on patient medications. Dispense sample medications to patients with prescription from Provider. Provide training and perform quarterly audits for PAP programs in satellite clinics.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist patients in filling out applications to apply for free medications through certain pharmaceutical companies. Submits application and other necessary documentation to Pharmaceutical Companies on behalf of the patient. Follow up patient's application and submit any additional information requested by pharmaceutical companies if it's necessary. Receive medications and ensure that inventory matches documentation. Obtain necessary signatures from Providers. Dispenses medications to patients, obtaining patient signature and scan into patient PAP doc. Post payments in office software (eclinical). Report daily payments. Verify all samples taken by medical assistance or Providers reported in the PAP medication log out sheet. Dispense sample medications to patients with written prescription from Provider. Maintain an adequate stock of samples through periodic request to pharmaceutical companies via Company Websites or pharmaceutical representatives. Verify the expiration date of the samples medication in stock at PAP. Verify the acceptable temperature of the medication storage in the fridge to avoid damage or lose strength when exposed to temperatures that reach a specific limit daily. Request refill of patient medications and track progress. Notify provider upon arrival of medication for authorization to dispense. Notify patient that medication is ready for pick it up and inform of Clinic Policy stating 30 days' maximum window for pick-up. Provide training and perform quarterly audits to ensure satellite clinics are compliant. Follows HIPAA guidelines and Variety Care Privacy policy and procedure. Assures that office equipment is in good working order. Notifies appropriate staff member if problems arise. Support Variety Care's accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and our commitment to provide care to all Variety patients that is Safe, Effective, Patient Centered, Timely, Efficient, and Equitable. Provide leadership and work with all staff to achieve the goals of the “Triple Aim“ of healthcare reform—to improve the experience of care, improve health outcomes, and decrease healthcare costs. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge:

High School Diploma or GED. Possesses legible handwriting and basic mathematic skills. Possesses ability to work with the public. Possesses ability to enter simple data entry and has basic keyboarding knowledge. Able to communicate with patients and staff. Trustworthy handling confidential information. Able to work in an active and stressful environment. Able to work with difficult patients from time to time. Bilingual (English/Spanish) REQUIRED.

ADA Requirements:

Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Able to sit for long periods of time.
