Director of Finance & Administration

The Director of Finance and Administration projects, develops, implements, analyzes and oversees all Gaylord College revenue and expense budgets. The Director manages the day-to-day operations of the finance office; supervises handling of all cash receipts and disbursements, implements and monitors all systems related to policies and procedures to assure compliance with federal, state and university policies and regulations; is responsible for payroll and personnel functions; completes and oversees financial reports to the university and outside parties. The director reviews all financial reconciliations, monitors expenditures, research and travel grants and purchasing.

The position advises the dean, faculty, staff & students on financial planning and processes as well as makes recommendations of necessary expenditures and cost cutting measures. The director reports to the dean and is a member of the college's leadership team. The position works with the college's key administration to set long and short term goals in line with the Gaylord College strategic plan.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree, or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:

* 24-36 months of financial and/or human resource experience

Skills:

* Knowledge of standard bookkeeping and accounting procedures

* Able to understand a chart of accounts and code entries to proper account

* Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English

* Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information

* Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

* Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines

* Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives

* Must be able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively

* Must be able to reach, stand, engage in repetitive motions, grasp, feel, touch, communicate, hear includingreceiving detailed information orally and see including color, depth perceptionor clarity.

Departmental Preferences:

* Strong preference for advanced knowledge of University systems: budget, purchasing, HR and payroll.
