Technical Trainer, Senior

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is in search of a highly qualified Senior Technical Trainer. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Provide classroom and deck plate training for U.S. Navy Sailors in Amphibious Ship classes and some Gas Turbine ships, as part of the Engineering Readiness Assist Team (ERAT).

* Be part of "embedded trainers" supporting TYCOM/ISIC in improving operator and maintainer expertise in main propulsion, damage control, electrical and auxiliary systems aboard ship.

* Conduct Training for Amphibious Ships.

* Training efforts will include classroom and ship visit training events for up to six weeks at a time, and may include overseas travel.

* Training will be conducted in primary ship home ports and includes underway time.

* Trainers will work with specifically identified ships in order to improve overall crew knowledge and subsequent ship readiness.

* This position is located in Norfolk, VA.

Job Requirements

* Highly skilled and experienced former Naval Officer with tours as Amphibious ships Chief Engineers, Principal Assistants and Engineering Division Officers are encouraged to apply, as are former Afloat Training Group members (ATG), INSURV Inspectors, and former Merchant Mariners with comparable experience.

* Bachelors Degree

* 20+ years experience

* Must be eligible for security clearance, which requires U. S. citizenship.

* Relevant experience in MM/BT and Gas Turbine ratings, new construction Amphibious ships, Master Training Specialist qualification, and/or Naval instructor podium time are all highly desired attributes.
