Department: Information Technology Job Title: Network Support Specialist FLSA Status:

(Exempt/Non-exempt) Unit E, 12 month, Group DReports to: Manager of Information Systems general description (1-3 lines describing role): Provide day-to-day support of the district's network infrastructure which includes wired network drops, wireless network connectivity within each of the individual school buildings, the fiber connections linking all schools to the Ed Center, the Cisco routers and switches that link all these network components together and district-provided PDAs. Qualifications: - Degree in Computer Science or equivalent computer-related coursework is required.

* Minimum of two years of required experience in overseeing and troubleshooting a large, complex, multi-site enterprise network.

* In-depth knowledge of data network concepts including TCP/IP, HTTPS, 802.11n wireless protocol and web internet services.

* Microsoft certification such as Professional (MCP) or Systems Administrator (MCSA) preferred.

* Experience installing routers and switches for LAN and WAN applications preferred.

* Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical audiences. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (not limited to): - Implement both wired and wireless technology networks, program network switches and wireless access points, and install wiring framework for both fiber optic and cat5 copper connections.

* Oversee the central distribution of anti-virus software protection to both Mac and PC computer platforms.

* Effectively carry out multiple, competing tasks, managing time and prioritizing work to insure that assigned projects and tasks are completed in a timely fashion.

* Recommend affordable network improvements and security procedures that are well documented.

* Configure and support district-provided cell phones to exchange email messages, calendar appointments and contact info reliably with FirstClass collaboration system.

* Administer and advise on network and computer security issues.

* Work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.

* Advocate and adhere to the IT strategies, hardware and software standards, security policies and operational procedures of the Technology Department, which are consistently applied to all schools in the district.

* Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Work Environment & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - This role involves moving and installing server and network equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

* This role requires the occasional use of ladders and specialized tools to install and mount network cables under raised floors and above suspended ceilings.
