Role Purpose

To ensure the error free product launches based on robust designs and stable, capable processes throughout the supply chain. To act as the senior Quality authority for a specific Customer or field that manages new Projects as well as major changes for existing Production. Ability to train others on Quality related or Customer specific requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

An engineering degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, plus subsequent training in quality engineering practices.


Quality specific Degree, Lead Auditor Training in TS Standard, Six Sigma Black belt, AIAG Training Courses

DFM/DFA knowhow, MSA knowledge, Program Management experience, Leadership or Supervisory experience


Minimum of 5 years' experience in an automotive quality engineering environment. Knowledge of customer specific systems and standards, Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing and product processes. Application of QMS tools and techniques (APQP, FMEA, inspection planning, SPC, DOE etc.). Very good facilitation and presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare the quality plan and organize the relevant quality & problem prevention activities. (plan)

* Co-ordinate & lead the relevant quality and problem prevention activities Eg FMEA, lessons learnt, safe sample, safe launch, etc for the program and ensure critical product launch quality reviews (PLQR) are completed as planned. (do)

* Ensure all past concerns are included in FMEA's as appropriate & mitigation actions and development of Past History aRoadmaps to define Risks adequately (do)

* Verify that the product launch quality deliverables specified in the management system are completed to a high standard of execution and meet customer and stakeholder requirements. (check)

* Ensure completion & verification of all mitigation actions for past concerns by C4 sign off

* Complete a control plan audit of run at rate build (check)

* Communicate and liaise with the customer on quality related issues and co-ordinate corrective actions in case of deviations (act)

* Develop strong working relationships with customers and support contract review to ensure customer specific requirements are transferred to program team members for integration into the project plan and any gaps highlighted (customer relation management)

* Participate in program management stage gate reviews and engage work groups (eg FMEA, DFM, DFA etc) to ensure the appropriate quality input (information)

* Prepare, update and maintain the quality relevant documents for the program (documentation)

* Coordinate and lead periodic training sessions to keep personnel updated on current & new procedures, methods, tools, use of equipment and other quality assurance techniques

* Ensures the maintenance, updating & compliance to specific requirements necessary to support the GKN business model (e.g. TS 16949, ISO 14000, Customer-specific requirements, etc.)

* Regular reporting of the APQP status, including customer specific reports (reporting)
