POSITION: Lead Technician




Company is seeking a Lead Technician whose core responsibility is to provide leadership and guidance to the other technicians and assist in the growth and betterment of the entire team and Company.


  • Meets and greets all customers in a gracious, professional manner
  • Manages daily technical production and efficiency, including producing own work
  • Trains and holds team members accountable for quality
  • Reviews courtesy checks immediately and gets them to Service Advisor ASAP
  • Orders parts when needed utilizing Parts Request Form
  • Indicates the exact repair instructions including time expectations to both the Technician and Service Advisor
  • Review all Parts Request Forms, ensuring quality, accuracy, reasoning, and time needed
  • Uses and trains in the use of whatever means are necessary to look up technical information for Shop Key, Tractor Trailer, Fleet Body, Patis (Palfinger), and Extranet
  • Is up-to-date and trained on diag equipment
  • Holds others accountable for usage of diag equipment, when applicable
  • Seeks and continues education, inspiring others to do the same
  • Ensures the proper and approved disposal of all tires and environmentally hazardous materials in a timely manner
  • Ensures all time sheets have been properly completed and turned daily
  • Reviews time sheets and makes sure they are complete with PO numbers, unit number, parts used, and turned in in a timely manner
  • Coordinates the wrap up business and closes the shop at the end of the day ensuring that all doors are shut, with lights, cords, hoses, and hose reels picked up and put away
  • Monitors and inspects cleanliness and condition of shop tools and equipment
  • Coordinates who will be on call after hours/weekends
  • Attends/Holds employee meetings
  • Attends and participates in leadership meetings and training when needed
  • Reviews weekly highs and lows from all mechanic staff members as well as gross profit work sheet with management team
  • Coordinates with Service Manager to set performance goals for each technician and monitors/reviews progress
  • Handles all customer complaints in compliance with corporate guidelines
  • Maintains and continues to improve Company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Holds all employees accountable for their performance, efficiency, cleanliness, and quality of work
  • Coordinates with Parts Manager and Service Manager to maintain and control inventory of parts and supplies
  • Assists the Service Manager with responsibilities as tasks overlap but all the while working toward a common goal via teamwork

  • Ability to lead the technicians under him/her, measuring productivity, efficiency and quality as well as be productive
  • Have basic computer knowledge
  • Be safety aware
  • Available to review the day's work with the Service Manager prior to the shop meeting that is to start promptly at 7:45 AM
  • Able to perform overtime, including Saturdays
  • Able to travel
  • Be flexible, time conscious, and be able to move from project to project with minimal supervision
  • Expert at conducting day-to-day duties in a highly professional manner, working effectively in a diverse working environment, while being highly motivated
