Roles & Responsibilities:

Providesoperational oversight of the assigned basic science research laboratory.Ensures the environment and equipment are safe, compliant and effective.Manages all equipment, shared across areas or in a single area, includingmicroscopes, cell sorters, mass spectrometry units, etc. Ensures all equipmentis well maintained, with development and implementation of systems designed fortracking maintenance, and training staff in proper usage. This individual actsas liaison to other Mount Sinai departments, including Facilities, Engineeringand Bio/Radiation Safety. Produces summary reports and databases that reflectinventory of all faculty, staff and equipment in the laboratory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Worksclosely with individual Principal Investigators (PIs) and management to ensureeffective day-to-day workflow of basic science research laboratories assigned

* Inconjunction with department Financial leadership, develops and manages annualoperating budgets for each shared equipment resource located on assignedlab(s). Works with Finance to develop fee schedules for users of sharedequipment and any mechanisms for payback

* Overseesstaff who are supporting centralized/shared lab functions, such as dishwashers,equipment techs, etc.

* Overseesthe process of purchasing equipment and supplies. Assists in the negotiationand oversight of service contracts on equipment

* Ensuresthat all equipment is properly maintained and safe to use

* Trainsand instruct research staff on equipment to support specific research needs

* Responsiblefor communications within MSSM Facilities Management to provide a streamlinedapproach to managing laboratory needs

* Responsiblefor compliance to all school, local, state and federal Regulations as itrelates to radiation safety, hazardous chemical waste disposal, environmentalservices, and other related areas deemed appropriate

* Overseeslaboratory renovations as needed

* Overseesand facilitates the move of new investigators to the space, as well as therelocation of investigators as needed and as determined by research spacedensity metrics

* Gathersand analyzes related data and trends to determine short-term and long-termfinancial research implications. Implement changes, restructure and improveservices for research community and improve the financial position of the CoreFacilities

* Otherrelevant duties as assigned

Requirements:

* Bachelor'sdegree, preferably in biology, chemistry or animal science, or an equivalentcombination of relevant education and/or experience

* 3 years of related research and administration experience required.

* Excellentcommunicate skills, both oral and written form

* Aptitudefor quick learning and multi-tasking is critical
