Roles & Responsibilities:

ThePatient Coordinator at the Access Center will be the first point of contactwith patients contacting the call center to schedule an appointment within theMount Sinai Health System.

Dutiesand Responsibilities:

* Answer70-100 patient calls per day in a fast paced call center.

* Confirmand update patient demographics and verify insurance as necessary to ensurethat patients are appropriately scheduled for the physician they are seeing.

* Demonstrateexemplary customer service and soft skills.

* Maintainimpeccable attendance.

* Greetpatients via telephone and schedule appointments while simultaneously updatingtheir insurance/demographics in the patient medical record.

* Communicatewith appropriate front end staff an report any escalations to ensure thepatient has a positive experience during the scheduling process.

* Collector retrieve referrals or insurance authorizations as required.

* Mayschedule patient for follow-up appointment as needed.

* Providepatient with guidelines for requesting medical records if necessary.

* Mayperform additional tasks within the call center.

* Followall HIPAA and any other governmental or state agency requirements regarding theappropriate handling of PHI documents.

* May initiate reminder phone calls for nextday appointments.

* May perform additional tasks within the callcenter.

Requirements:

* HighSchool graduate/GED

Minimum one year call center related experience (high call volume environment)

* Preferredexperience with patient scheduling

* Musthave a minimum of one week training on-site, which will be provided by practice

Preferred Skills:

* Hospitalscheduling and registration systems including, but not limited to, Epic, IDX,Cerner, RIS, Eagle, ECW

* Computer:Microsoft Office, Outlook

* Patient-basedcustomer service and soft skills

* Abilityto multi-task

* Excellentwritten and oral communication skills
