The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degrees in seven years. CSOM will graduate its first MED class in 2020. CSOM also has a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies (P.A.). CUNY School of Medicine is seeking a candidate for the position of IT Academic Technology Specialist - LCMS+ Specialist. The LCMS+ student learning management system, provides users with a platform for communication, sharing and scheduling of course content and events and supports the School-wide technology vision. Through LCMS+, students and faculty conduct various course evaluations and assessments.

Reporting to the Director of Educational Research and Evaluation, the candidate will manage the technical elements of the School's learning management system and assessment platform; interface with School leadership and professors to facilitate the integration of instructional technology knowledge into teaching and learning; interface with external vendor staff; engage in curriculum training for faculty and staff; maintain curriculum resources, materials and equipment; and provide updates and recommendations regarding instructional technology integration, planning and professional development.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties will include:

* Develop assessment, evaluation and course mapping reports

* Generate user accounts and assign appropriate security levels

* Build course shells based on curriculum schedule; create, upload, and post course schedule and other documents

* Manage grades and assessments in the electronic grade book, upload and update student rosters

* Define small group sets and faculty assignments

* Ensure compatibility across different information systems (e.g., LCMS+, Blackboard and RedCap)

* Develop dashboards in collaboration with staff and faculty

* Make recommendations for improved operational and system procedures


Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

Other Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology)

* Knowledge of student learning management systems, data analytics and coding/scripting is required.

* Experience working with Student Learning Management Systems is preferred.

* Effective and collaborative leadership style to support organizational and technological change, including excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills is also highly desired.

* Experience working with Blackboard, Internet and desktop applications in a network environment is preferred.

* Experience providing instruction online or supporting online courses in a higher education setting a plus.

* Experience troubleshooting instructional related computer software.


Assists in developing and implementing instructional systems to support the College's academic mission.

* Administers and supports online learning communities, creating accounts and maintaining user populations

* Works with faculty developers and others to extend and enrich the use of instructional technology

* Consults with faculty members in the design and development of engaging, interactive, and instructionally sound technology applications across multiple platforms

* Delivers training programs, workshops, and seminars about instructional technologies; creates awareness in the College community on the features and benefits of various applications

* Solicits and evaluates feedback from the College community on the effectiveness of instructional technologies

* Performs other duties as assigned.
