The Wing is seeking a focused, food-loving Kitchen Lead to support, monitor, and implement all aspects of the back of house food & beverage program in NYC. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Kitchen Lead will provide additional supervisory support to all back of house operations, including assisting the line and prep cooks during busy times of day. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • 4 shifts / week working in the kitchen alongside staff, monitoring quality, efficiency and service
  • Filling any scheduling gaps along with for line and/or prep support
  • 1 shift / week admin tasks such as inventory management, order sheets, waste inventory, and any/all other Perch-specific projects as directed by Assistant General Manager and General Manager
  • Work with part-time staff to ensure all members receive consistent A+ hospitality; this includes greeting with solution-oriented customer service and ensuring The Perch, our in-house restaurant, upholds operational and visual brand standards
  • Support The Perch by overseeing the delivery and organization of food and beverage as well as preparing food according to standards set by Culinary Director; Working with the General Manager for any/all catering requests for events and conference room meetings throughout the day
  • Be a point of contact for member issues, feedback and requests, as well escalating urgent matters to the appropriate Wing Team members
  • Assisting Food and Beverage Manager as needed with the following (but not limited to): Cafe Dry Goods Inventory, Weekly Food and Beverage Ordering, and new staff training/coaching/mentorship
  • Sending daily updates daily update via email to the GM regarding any inventory/waste needs, member requests and/or pertinent staff information

  • High volume, fast-paced, high profile restaurant experience preferred
  • Experience in training and supervising line and prep cooks
  • Strong hospitality and restaurant/cafe knowledge required
  • Strong service, food and beverage knowledge Must have at least 2 years experience in a high-volume kitchen or equivalent - bartending experience would also fulfill this requirement
  • This is a full time hourly role, must be available for 40 hours per week
  • Certified Food Handlers’ license or equivalent local food handling certification (such as ServSafe) required
  • Flexible hours, willingness to work weekends and some holidays
  • Ability to stand or walk for long stretches of time
  • Regularly lift 25 pounds; occasionally lift 50 pounds
This is a full-time hourly role.
