The Employer Specialist for Construction Industry plays an integral role in the Workforce Development Services at the Osborne Association through cultivating relationships with Construction companies, unions and other industry partners, with the goal of matching Osborne graduates to job opportunities. The Employer Specialist for Construction will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with businesses, unions and trade schools, ensuring that Osbornes training is in line with the industry needs, screening participants for opportunities, and placing participants into appropriate roles in the Construction industry.

About the Program

The Osborne Associations Workforce programs include soft and hard skills training programs to enable graduates to succeed in careers in the Food Services, Maintenance, and Construction industries. We offer initial training in NYC jails, as well as job training programs in the community for people reentering from jail and prison. Osborne is committed to developing job opportunities for our graduates and providing retention support for graduates to continue growing in their careers.


* Build and maintain relationships with business representatives in the construction industry to promote Osbornes clients;

* Develop specific opportunities in construction that match the skills, work experience, related training, interests, and background of Osborne clients;

* Collect data from employers related to job orders, including description of the position, physical requirements, certification and skills requirements, and wages and hours;

* Pre-screen and vet candidates on behalf of the employers;

* Conduct necessary follow-up with the employers when applicants are placed in positions to determine skills and training requirements for advancements;

* Work with program staff to develop training opportunities to meet employer demands;

* Enter and maintain employer information, employer satisfaction, and placement verification data in Salesforce database;

* Keep current with trends and maintain updated labor market information by researching, attending meetings, and maintaining contacts with various trade schools, unions, and professional/community organizations that are involved in job placement/training activities, particularly within Osborne Associations target industries;

* Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities that will be assigned from time to time.

Skills and Qualifications

* Expertise of the construction industry in New York City is required. This includes knowledge of the major employers, trades/unions, the career pathways within the industry, and the skills/training needed for different positions within construction.

* Associates degree in a related field or three years of sales experience and/or placement experience in either the public or nonprofit sector, or comparable recruiting experience for a corporation.

* Sales experience in the construction industry, marketing and/or public relations experience preferred.

* Experience in developing jobs appropriate for justice-involved individuals preferred

* Highly organized and detail-oriented.

* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

* Knowledge of Salesforce software preferred

* Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
