Amplify is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to partner closely with the General Counsel and our lean legal team to support all aspects of Amplify's growing business and drive forward our strategic legal and compliance initiatives. The successful candidate will bring broad legal and compliance experience, providing leadership and counsel in the areas of corporate compliance, employment, corporate transactions, litigation management, and a variety of customer and supplier contracts.

Responsibilities of the General Deputy Counsel:

  • Lead support and design of company practices, policies and oversight efforts to facilitate corporate compliance.
  • Advise on compliance matters, including privacy and security, accessibility, political law, ethics, employment, marketing, and antitrust.
  • Advise on risks and liabilities of proposed commercial transactions and develop creative and practical legal solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Stay ahead of applicable laws, regulations and industry guidance that impact Amplify's business.
  • Develop form agreements, best practices and lead all aspects of training to support our compliance and legal initiatives.
  • Work closely with the product teams to advise on new features and business initiatives that ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations.
  • Oversee litigation, response to claims, coordinating with outside counsel, as needed.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, sales, operations, finance and company leadership team to develop and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements.
  • Supervise and coordinate with outside counsel as necessary.
  • Execute other projects as the need arises as part of a small legal team.

Basic Qualifications of the Deputy General Counsel:

  • JD from ABA-accredited law school and current membership in New York Bar (or able to satisfy all New York Bar admission on motion without examination requirements).
  • 5-7 years of transactional experience at an AmLaw firm and/or 3-5 years of experience in-house as a corporate generalist or compliance professional.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain complex issues in a clear manner to all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications of the Deputy General Counsel:

  • Demonstrated experience as a motivated attorney who has the ability and confidence to work independently; strong drafting and negotiation skills along with excellent business judgment and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to business problems in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment.
  • Flexible and willing to approach legal challenges with a results-oriented mentality.
  • Extraordinary initiative, creative problem solver, with excellent judgment and analytical skills.
  • Hands-on, teammate with the ability to think clearly in a stressful situation, prioritize workload while running simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
