Provides application support which includes responding to open trouble tickets escalated from the Global Support helpdesk, investigating and resolving application issues, installing new Cognos components, and managing Cognos issues. Qualified candidates should possess a working knowledge of standard business computing systems in a networked environment. Provide daily support and administration of network computing resources through demonstrated use of analytical and problem solving skills.

The application administrator’s primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Cognos administration for:

Cognos Migrations

Cognos Policy Management

User accounts, security groups

New Cognos Model Implementations project management and support

Cognos support for EP and BI

Cognos model performance tuning

Cognos environment support in troubleshooting Server connectivity and Server computing resource problems

Communicating technical information to non-technical personnel effectively, both orally and in writing

Directly reports to the Director Shared Technology NA.

The Cognos Application Specialist will perform various daily housekeeping tasks and will also be expected to assist in any IT projects as directed by the Director Shared Technology Services.

Must Have:

Good knowledge of Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and previous Windows versions

Troubleshooting Java Client issues

Good knowledge of current desktop and mobile computing technology used by the business in Cognos for: Query, Report, Analysis & Event Studios

In-depth knowledge of Cognos Planning, BI, MS SQL and Framework Manager v8.4, 10, and TM1

Advanced knowledge of Cognos EP 8.4 modules including but not limited to: Contributor, Analyst, Planning Manager, Access Manager, Excel integration

Knowledge of Citrix, MS Terminal Services, AD, Cognos Model Building for planning and forecasting, BI dash boards and reporting and DBA/ETL skills

General knowledge of media industry and financial processes

General knowledge of accounting principles, methods and skills.


Advanced working knowledge of MS SQL, Data base architecture, data warehousing and ETL Experience

Net Coding in C#, ASP, VBS, JS, HTM, XML

Skill in data source integration, normalization and tuning across multiple disparate data sources

Skills in Business Analysis, Work Flow Designs, Business Process Engineering, and Project Management

May travel up to 50%
