Assistant Director of Academic Communications

The Executive Dean’s Office in the Schools of Public Engagement (SPE) seeks an Assistant Director, Academic Communications. SPE comprises the School of Media Studies; the School of Undergraduate Studies; the Milano School of Policy, Management and Environment; the Creative Writing Program; and the Studley Graduate Programs in International Affairs, as well as several research centers and institutes. The Assistant Director of Academic Communications will play a key role in communicating about the college and the schools and programs that comprise it, working directly with leadership and staff of the schools, program, and centers. This position reports to the Senior Director of Strategy & Communications for SPE.

Responsibilities:

* Coordinate the academic communications profile of the college (university website, school blogs, social media, and other communications channels), working with senior staff of the Executive Dean’s Office, school leadership, and faculty, and liaising with the University’s Office of Marketing and Communication and Admissions.

* Coordinate project management across the college, convening relevant participants including academic leadership, faculty, and staff to ensure timely and forward movement on implementation.

* Write, design, edit, and coordinate copy for a variety of platforms, including admissions and recruitment related materials, curriculum guides, websites, social media posts, newsletters, memos, and other promotional materials as needed.

* Work with university offices including General Counsel, Development, Student Success, Strategic Enrollment Management, Marketing & Communications, and Purchasing as well as occasional external participants/vendors.

* Track and report on communications initiatives using analytics programs and tools to measure and improve engagement.

* Use project management systems to create practical project plans with clear deadlines, tasks, approvals, and deliverables.

* Present as needed to Schools of Public Engagement Deans Council.
