This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Gulf of Mexico Region (GOMR), Office of the Regional Director, FOIA/Records Office in Jefferson, LA.

Salary Information

GS-06 $37,223.00 - $48,385.00 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.

This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Responsibilities

At the full performance level (GS-06) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

* Prepares in final form a wide range of documents, letters, forms, memoranda, and reports using Microsoft Word or similar word processing software.

* Edits, inputs to, and monitors the Department of the Interior Freedom of Information Act Tracking System for all FOIA activity in the Gulf of Mexico Region including detailed initial input of all FOIA requests made to the Region, updates, and final dispositions.

* Independently prepares response letters for the FOIA officer.

* Receives and reviews incoming mail, and routes correspondence to appropriate personnel.

* Schedules meetings and appointments for management and staff personnel.

* Receives visitors and answers telephone calls to the office, ascertains the nature of each visit or telephone call, and route visitors or callers to the appropriate staff.

* Develops and maintains current and complete files and records in accordance with Agency Records Management requirements.

* Maintains time and attendance records for all Office personnel and validates staff's time in Quicktime.

* For office personnel in travel status, make hotel and airline reservation, calculates travel advances, and prepare travel vouchers and reports.

* Prepares requisitions using the automated procurement system for procurement of equipment, controlled Government property, and contractual services.

* Conducts preliminary reviews of digital data to identify basic format and content errors using appropriate software applications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying.

(1) Specialized Experience

To qualify for the GS-06, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: (1) drafting reports, memoranda and routine correspondence for signature by higher level official; (2) making travel arrangements and/or performing timekeeping duties for staff; (3) utilizing software applications including word processing, database management, and /or travel management systems; AND (4) establishing and maintaining records and files.
