The NET Charter High Schools serve students who have dropped out of or been expelled from high school or who have struggled academically or behaviorally in traditional settings. The school’s name stands for: meeting Needs, raising Expectations, Training for life. Students at The NET earn a high school diploma and participate in internships with area employers in various fields. Our students leave school with the skills, confidence and experience necessary to succeed in the career and education path of their choice. There are three campuses, The NET: Central City which opened in 2011 and The NET: Gentilly which opened in 2017, and the NET: East which opened in 2020.
Position Summary
The NET seeks a 504 Coordinator and Special Education Teacher to work closely with the Principal, Deans, and Special Education Coordinator to ensure each student engages and flourishes academically and behaviorally.
The Student Support Coordinator is responsible for:
- Serving as 504 and RtI Coordinator for the school
- Providing academic support services to special education, 504, and regular education students including, but not limited to: pushing into classes, co-teaching, pulling individual or small groups of students
- Producing high quality documentation for all activities, particularly 504, Special Education, RtI, and Pupil Appraisal activities, in both school and state databases
- Designing and providing high quality academic and behavioral plans and supports, including providing direct support to students
- Co-Managing SBLC data and process
- Participating in Pupil Appraisal and other student support teams
- Analyzing and insuring student progress on an individual, course and school level
- Building and leveraging transformative relationships for student growth
- Modeling collaborative, servant leadership
- Constantly developing your own craft
Position Requirements:
- 5-10+ years experience effectively teaching at risk high school students
- 2-5+ years effectively managing programs or projects
- BA required; MA or MEd Preferred; Teacher Special Education Certificate Preferred but not required
- Specialized interest and skills in working with students with learning and emotional difficulties
- Careful, detail oriented data management and analysis skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, relationship building & management skills

Position Details
- Start date: ASAP or January 2024
- Schedule: All full time positions are year-round with a generous vacation schedule
- Salary: Initial salary is $50,000-$65,000 based on years of experience and degrees. Future salary increases are based on performance and responsibilities.

Detailed Responsibilities
Serve as 504 and RtI Coordinator for the school
- Insure all students are screened and identified for academic and behavioral supports each semester
- Complete 504 evaluations and plans
- Monitor and communicate student academic progress with students, parents, and faculty
- Manage, analyze, and report RtI data for individual student and school-wide improvement
Provide direct services to students
- Push into classes, co-teach, and/or pull individual or small groups of students
- This position may serve all students-- special education, 504, and/or regular education students
Producing high quality documentation for all activities, particularly 504, Special Education, RtI, and Pupil Appraisal activities, in both school and state databases
- Insure compliance with all school, local, state, and federal laws and policies
Design and provide high quality academic and behavioral plans and supports
- Research, select and develop appropriate RtI curricula, structures and interventions for NET students
- Develop, implement, monitor and adjust school wide and individual student plans and interventions
- Write and manage FBA and BIPs
Co-Manage SBLC data and process
- Run efficient and effective bi-weekly SBLC team meetings with the data and enrollment coordinator
- Manage Fastbridge (or equivalent) screening and progress monitoring
- Insure all SBLC data is accurate and up to date
- Collaborate with staff to insure prompt completion of next steps in SBLC decisions
Participate in Pupil Appraisal and other student support teams
- Sit on or, as appropriate, chair Pupil Appraisal or other student support teams
- Support RtI and Sped teams to insure all students are screened and identified for interventions each semester
- Develop, implement, monitor and adjust school wide and individual student plans and interventions
Analyzing and insuring student progress on an individual, course and school level
- Develop or modify rigorous, authentic assessments to accurately gauge student understanding & skills
- Collect and analyze a variety of data to assess student’s strengths, gaps, and growth areas
- Use this information to appropriately adjust course curriculum and delivery and individualize approaches and supports
- Participate in developing Master Schedule and hand-scheduling each student each semester
Building and leveraging transformative relationships for student growth
- Participate in all aspects of students’ experience including: intake, RtI, special education, internships, and post high school transition
- Actively practice restorative approaches and collaborative problem-solving in order to teach students how to take responsibility for improving their behavior and communication
Model collaborative, servant leadership
