Payroll and Benefits Specialist

As part of the HR team, manage the local timekeeping system and submit bi-weekly payroll for a growing manufacturing site of 300+ employees. Create and update related reports for distribution to HR and Finance teams. Train new users in system utilization, and provide excellent customer service to local management and employees regarding timekeeping, time off and leave records and best practice system utilization.

Responsibilities

Responsible for being the resident expert and managing the local timekeeping system, accurately processing bi-weekly payroll function, training new users in the timekeeping system, and generating useful system reports for finance and other departmental managers.
Developing more efficient and effective processes related to timekeeping collection, reporting capabilities and reducing manual entry wherever possible within system and in conjunction with company HRIS.
Provide excellent communication, knowledge and customer service to local employees and management related to timekeeping system, reporting, legal compliance and HR information auditing processes.
Active participation within HR team to assist in building more effective processes, practices and policies related to timekeeping and payroll related activities.


Required Skills

Must have strong organization and communcation skills.
Must be detail-oriented, with ability to review and analyze numeric data accurately and efficiently.
Must have good understanding of legal compliance and best practices related to timekeeping and payroll processes.
Must be able to handle and process sensitive and confidential information on a daily basis.
Strong preference for strong spreadsheet skills to assist with data collection and reporting.
Must be comfortable leading and embracing change and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Education

Strong preference for current certification or minimum Associates degree in payroll/HR related field.

Required Experience

Must have a minimum of 3-5 successful years of payroll experience in a manufacturing environment, or handling varied hourly work schedules.
Must have experience analyzing large amounts of numeric data, running exception reports and meeting demanding deadlines.
Preference for previous experience with Kronos timekeeping system.
