Position Overview

This position will be responsible for the overall survey process. Working hours will be typical of the construction industry, 50+ during peak construction season. The ideal candidate needs to be willing to work up to 6 days per week during the peak construction season (summer months). Must be willing to work solo, nights, weekends, and be willing to travel (from time to time).

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Provide support for construction crews and field managers as requested.
  • Schedule work loads.
  • Track employee hours and input time weekly for payroll
  • Track survey costs and stay within budgets.
  • Track and manage survey and GPS equipment.
  • Set-up, adjust and operate survey equipment including universal total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, areas and angles.
  • Construction staking for roadways, bridges, utilities, and other features, as necessary.
  • Locating and/or establishing vertical and horizontal survey control.
  • Perform mapping compliance and other related office survey duties.
  • Collection and transfer of field data communicated through the proper channels.
  • Maintain field data records, survey project files, and indexing systems.
  • Schedule project survey needs.
  • Customer service: Manage employee situations, respond to employee requests, meet commitments.
  • Display strong leadership & teamwork skills
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • 5 years of site modeling experience is preferred.
  • Previous construction experience preferred.
  • Drafting and 3D modeling experience preferred.
  • PLS License is preferred, but not required.

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Maintain professional relationships with managers, field support, office and subcontractors, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
  • Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
