Position Description:

The Senior Scientist – Intellectual Assets will lead a global Intellectual Asset Review Committee (IARC). The Senior Scientist – IA will support the development of Kimberly-Clark's intellectual properties by facilitating training, patent filings, oppositions, foreign filing decisions, estate reviews, competitive patent reviews, publication and trade secret processes. This role requires an individual who has excellent communication skills, enjoys working in a team, and can influence others. The ability to interact with stakeholders, to provide guidance on key IA processes, and to lead effective delivery of IA solutions for the enterprise is also required.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage the enterprise's patent estate. Secure and maintain intellectual assets for the IARCs and research teams including managing initial and secondary filings, estate reviews, technology protection maps, oppositions, actions associated with the patent process, publications, trade secrets, and proprietary know-how.

* Assist teams with the creation of Intellectual Assets through facilitation of ideation sessions, helping to recognize protectable inventions, patent searching, and assisting legal during the prosecution of patents.

* Work effectively with global inventors to develop comprehensive invention disclosure submissions. Drive invention disclosure evaluation process and support develop of patent claims and filing strategy.

* Working knowledge of Internal and External IP processes and tools (including Legal Patent Process). Key user of the K-C internal IA management system (ANAQUA) and external Patent & Trademark Office processes for protection of K-C inventions.

* Ability to guide global project teams in developing IA strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

* A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline, and typically 5-8 years of experience and/or advanced degrees; or demonstrated equivalent scientific ability, based on relevant experience and appropriate education.

* Demonstrated competence in searching and analyzing patent art.

* Strong collaboration, decisiveness, and communication skills required to interact effectively with all levels of the enterprise.

* Competency in understanding the issues and aspects associated with developing and obtaining patents.

* Model One-K-C behaviors and the ability to influence without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Working knowledge of Internal and External IP processes and tools (including Legal Patent Process). Key user of the K-C internal IA management system (ANAQUA) and external Patent & Trademark Office processes for protection of K-C inventions.

* Experience in intellectual assets, legal processes, IA management systems and databases is highly desirable

* A working knowledge of intellectual assets in specific focus areas (e.g. patent application and grant processes, and support tools such as the internal patent docket management system (ANAQUA).
