R&E Technical Strategist – Mechanical

Currently, we are seeking a Technical Strategist – Mechanical for a P4 Level, Grade 7 position as part of the Family Care R&E team in Neenah, Wisconsin.

The candidate will serve as mechanical engineering technical strategist for tissue machines on the Asset Technology Development Team within Family Care R&E. He/she will provide technical leadership and champion the technical vision in the design, development, optimization, and commercialization of mechanical and process capabilities across the tissue machine asset base, inclusive of UCTAD, CTEC and LDC technologies. Candidates must have expertise in mechanical design, capability development, asset operability, supplier relationships, project management, as well as expertise in Family Care tissue manufacturing processes. They must possess strong understanding to the interaction of asset design and the tissue manufacturing process, and have a demonstrated ability to drive technical strategies and innovation to impact business results. The successful candidate will be recognized for their ability to influence vendors and effectively collaborate with a cross-functional team that includes R&E, product supply, mill operations, procurement, and external service providers.

The incumbent will report to the R&E Sr. Manager, Asset Technology Development, in Family Care Research and Engineering. He/she will provide technical leadership to the R&E team, influencing key technical developments, standards and best practices across tissue machine technologies and project management methods to achieve business results. He/she will drive tissue manufacturing asset investment and innovation that advances product and process capability, product supply capacity, and margin improvement. The scope of influence will span stock preparation, tissue machines, winders, ancillary systems, piping, buildings, and major construction. He/she will provide protection to technologies and process through the appropriate use of patents and trade secrets to ensure strong K-C intellectual property landscape. He/she will create strong technical network across tissue machine technologies, to ensure strategy and best practice adoption and build mechanical engineering talent across the sector.

Expectations and Accountabilities:

* Provide leadership by example in corporate safety, quality, regulatory, product safety and sustainability.

* Ensure that all elements of the corporate Human Resources Development and Diversity policy are fully supported.

* Manage self in accordance with the expected behaviors of the One KC Behaviors.

* Coach and mentor team members to increase technical understanding and ability to execute programs to improve Family Care's business results.

* Support and lead Lean management practices through Lean thinking and work methods (visual management, problem solving, strategy deployment).

* Conceive, develop, validate, and share ideas leading to new or improved products, processes, materials, systems or scientific knowledge aligned with business unit objectives.

* Implement strategies to protect novel technology solutions to sustain identified advantage in market.

* Maintain technical and scientific expertise in an area of technology and communicate impact of developments on Kimberly-Clark.

* Prepare and implement unit budgets and schedules. Implement appropriate internal controls and standards.

* Implement the documentation and report of unit work as required by KC policy, effective communication, protection of proprietary information, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

* Protect and defend K-C proprietary technology, products, and business processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.

* Communicate appropriately with all customers, internal and external, conducting all communications and transactions with the utmost integrity and honesty so as to build an unimpeachable business reputation.

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required/Work Conditions:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline with 20+ years industrial experience or another equivalent combination of education and experience with a solid background of technical knowledge and experience combined with a demonstrated track record in leading and directing technical development to successfully meet business objectives. Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members for career development and delivery of business results. Demonstrated ability to effectively influence across all levels and functions in the organization.

* Subject matter expertise in tissue manufacturing technologies, mechanical design, development and commercialization of process and ancillary system capability.

* Subject matter expertise through OEM and TSP relationships and project management best practices and process to drive tissue machine strategies, innovation and asset operability to meet business unit objectives.
