Director North America Labor and Employee Relations

Location: Neenah, Wisconsin or Roswell, Georgia

Position Purpose:

Lead strategist for K-C's US proactive and reactive labor relations initiatives. Responsible for the design, implementation, training, execution and results of programs.

Role Accountabilities:

Strategy

* Advises regional business leadership on the implications of short and long term decisions, M&A strategies, and large scale change efforts by providing labor/employee relations expertise and guidance.

* Advises on plans and path to achieve standardization required in labor and employment practices as part of the Global HR and Supply Chain transformations, including: wage and benefit strategies and implementation, proactive ER and engagement strategies and implementation, HR best practice audits, organizational health processes and tracking.

* In partnership with key stakeholders, leads development of regional collective bargaining, contract labor and hourly wage and benefit strategies using a consistent approach and methodology across the region.

* Maintains a strong collaborative relationship with the Employment & Labor Law Center of Excellence, Supply Chain, HRBPs and other key stakeholders.

* May serve as primary spokesperson for bargaining as needed.

* Provides strategic guidance on significant grievance and arbitration matters.

* Leads other labor and employee relations initiatives as needed.

Capability Building

* Provides guidance to HR and managers regarding the intent, application, and compliance requirements of labor agreements.

* Provides leadership, guidance and training for collective bargaining.

* Provides guidance and support on the drafting of responses to grievances, memoranda of understanding, side agreements, labor agreement provisions and other related items.

* Provides training to HR and managers on a variety of topics including labor and employee relations best practices, workforce analytics and risk mitigation.

* Leads project as sponsor or subject matter expert to build and implement organizational capability

* Monitors legal developments relating to labor and employee relations.

* Provides regular updates to key stakeholders on emerging labor and employee relations topics.

* Creates and maintains library of best practices and tools in global centralized location.

Risk Assessments

* Leverages internal and external data sources and subject matter experts to conduct risk assessments.

* Leads early issue identification and risk mitigation processes at region manufacturing facilities.

* Conducts fact finding investigation activities related to labor relations concerns and prescribes appropriate actions.

Stakeholder Management

* Requires exceptional stakeholder management skills.

* Networks with other leading CPC companies in region through industry associations to identify emerging trends and best practices.

* Builds and maintains productive and trusting relationships with unions and other labor stakeholders in industry and region.

* Leads a regular cadence of internal key stakeholder connections including: Human Resources, Supply Chain, Legal, Compliance, Global Rewards, Finance

Policies & Practice Ownership: North America Drug & Alcohol Guidelines; NA Non-solicitation Policies

Qualifications:

* Knowledge and skill level is typically developed through bachelors or advanced degree.

* 10+ years of successful experience leading the practice of Labor and Employee Relations in a manufacturing environment, across multiples unions/agreements and sites, building trust and cooperative relationships.

* Experience in crafting long term labor strategies, driving progress against objectives over multiple contracts.

* Experience in leading negotiations for positive results, dispute resolution, preparing and testifying in labor and employment law matters, crisis management and investigation experience.

* Experience in development of high performance work systems to include change strategies and high employee engagement processes.

* Project and program management – proven ability to strategically prioritize, self-manage projects to success and mobilize resources.

* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills

* Demonstrated ability to influence and lead at all level of the organization, with business acumen, smart risk taking, emotional intelligence, above average tactical skills and stress tolerance.

* Preferred experience in building organizational capability

* Role Requirements: Must be able to travel up to 50% of time
