Summary:

Responsible for managing the enterprise master patient index. Researches potential duplicate medical records and follows protocol to merge true duplicates across the health system and across the various clinical and financial systems. Coordinates with system owners to reduce/eliminate MPI duplicates and provides follow-up information to registration/office staff and leaders to reduce errors and improve the medical record searching and matching process.

Qualifications:

* Associate Degree in HIM Technology, computer science or business preferred.

* Preference given to candidates interested in HIM as evidenced by enrollment in a RHIT or RHIA program.

* Three to five years' experience in a Health Information Management department or in the administrative/business area of healthcare.

* Experience with Cerner Soarian preferred.

* Working knowledge of master patient indices or patient identifier information.

* Working knowledge of computerized electronic health record applications.

* Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and other reporting tools required.

* Technical proficiency in computer applications; able to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

* Strong analytic and computer skills.

* Must interact with employees, medical staff and customers with confidence and professionalism.

* Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.

* Must be able to use judgment and work independently.

* Must be able to determine root cause for data integrity issues.
