Requirements for Applying

Napa Valley Unified School District teachers are expected to teach and follow our developed curriculum as well as incorporate all engagement strategies planned at the school. Teachers are expected to attend planned professional development and implement learned strategies into daily classroom instruction. Candidates should be familiar with highly structured cooperative learning and should be familiar with technology and willing to incorporate technology as a daily teaching tool. Experience with Board Math, Board Language, and Project Based Learning is preferred. Candidates must be dedicated to growing professionally and collaborating with peers to establish a student-centered learning environment. Must be willing to work closely with parent volunteers in the classroom as well as maintain excellent communications and cooperation within the school community. The District is committed to the goal of developing a workforce reflective of the community’s demographic diversity. Candidates must hold a BCLAD: Spanish or be eligible for an Emergency BCLAD permit while working on earning the full BCLAD Authorization.

*Napa Valley Unified School District is proud to announce that beginning the 2016-17 school year a signing bonus of $2,000.00 will be awarded to those individuals holding a Preliminary or Clear Teaching Credential on one of the following "Hard to Fill" targeted areas:

Special Education Classroom Teachers (Resource and Severely Handicapped);

Psychologists; Speech Language Pathologists;

BCLAD for Dual Immersion;

World Languages, including American Sign Language;

Chemistry; Physics; Mathematics.

In addition, a $2,000.00 Relocation Incentive for chosen teacher candidates who will be relocating to the area from a distance of one hundred and fifty (150) miles or further.

*Note: The signing bonus incentive requires a minimum two (2) year commitment to teaching in the District and will be paid in two (2) installments of $1,000.00 at the beginning of 2016-17 and at the beginning of 2017-18.
