The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has an opening for a Building Facility Maintenance Foremen at the Southwest Idaho Treatment Center in Nampa.

Incumbents may work in all weather conditions, and move in and around confined spaces. This position involves lifting and carrying items weighing up to 90 pounds, bending, stooping, shoveling, and climbing ladders. This position may require periodic on-call availability.

Applicants will be required to pass a background investigation after a conditional offer of employment.

* Maintains and repairs panels, circuits, wiring, and related systems; replaces switches, receptacles, ballast's, fuse boxes, heat systems, motors, fans and lights; repairs electric motors and extension cords; installs communication cable and telephone lines.

* Maintains and repairs plumbing fixtures, lavatories, faucets, sinks, tubs, water heaters and water service and drain lines; installs domestic, irrigation, and sprinkler systems; cleans/unclogs pipes, tanks, floor drains and sewers; cuts and threads or sweats pipe; repairs steam traps and pipes on heat systems; conducts preventive maintenance of plumbing and steam systems.

* Installs ceramic floor and wall tile, linoleum, plastic laminate and similar products; repairs built-up, shake, shingle, and other roofs; patches holes in walls using sheetrock, plywood, tile, and plaster; reglazes windows; builds walls, partitions, benches, decks, and tables; sketches from oral instructions and works from drawings to design and build specialty items; builds and sets forms and pours and finishes concrete; builds fences and gates.

* Maintains and repairs heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment such as air compressors, dryers, strainers, pneumatic and electronic controls and piping systems; insures water and steam coils, motors, belts, pulleys, condenser pans, duct work, dampers, and related systems are working properly; repairs fire alarm and pumping systems.

* Sprinkler system layout and design; operating and repairing tools and equipment associated with landscaping and grounds maintenance; preparing records and reports; training staff in ground maintenance work; mowing, trimming, planting vegetation, and pruning.

* Plans, organizes, and directs daily operation of an institutional laundry; operates and maintains laundry equipment; performs related work.

* Performs duties associated with commercial cleaning, including operating industrial-type cleaning equipment such as high-speed buffers and vacuum cleaners; cleaning restrooms, bath facilities, locker rooms, swimming pools, and similar facilities; moving heavy items such as tables, chairs, and bleachers; and repairing the equipment and related devices you operate.

* Maintains state vehicles such as changing bulbs, checking tire pressure, changing oil, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Some knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.

* Some knowledge of heating and cooling system maintenance and repair.

* Experience performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair involving general building related trades work.

* Experience using and maintaining hand and power tools normally associated with carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work.

* Valid driver's license.

Additional Qualifications: Are not required; however, having the minimum qualifications and the education and/or experience below will increase your score.

* Licensure as a Backflow Assembly Tester or Drinking Water Operator.
