The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in Morganton, North Carolina is an ICF certified facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We provide comprehensive residential care to citizens from 37 counties in the western portion of the state. JIRDC is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive, & functional abilities.

Iverson Riddle Developmental Center is located just an hour from the Queen City of Charlotte, home of the Carolina Panthers and the City of Asheville, home to the world renowned Biltmore Estate and Grove Park Inn. Our facility sits on one of the most picturesque properties in Burke County. We are nestled at the foot of the Blue Ridge and South Mountains and just minutes from beautiful Lake James. These is an entry level Permanent Part-time positions with beginning hourly rate of pay of $12.58.

Primary purpose of position is to provide direct care services to individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities, some of whom have behavior problems and/or medical conditions. Services are in the form of training, activities, & assisting with basic care. In addition to direct care, the position carries out goaled programs to encourage independent functioning in all aspects of daily living.

Permanent Part-Time:

60049305 - CWE/Evergreen - 2nd Shift (10:00a - 9:00p) - 10 hours every Saturday and Sunday

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

* Ability to learn techniques for carrying out program goals

* Ability to communicate orally and in writing and to follow instructions

* Ability to work with individuals who have multiple disabilities

* Employee will be required to successfully complete training through our Staff Development department which includes, but is not limited to NCI (North Carolina Intervention), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting

* Frequent lifting and bending required

* To be considered for employment the applicant must be in good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry

Management prefers employment experience in a large residential facility providing personal care and carrying out goal programs in areas such as bathing, dressing, toothbrushing, feeding, changing attends on adults, communication, and behavior modification.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma; some work experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
