Job Summary/Description:

WALA-TV is looking for a dynamic Sports Anchor/Reporter who understands that it’s all about stories, not highlights. We look to dominate our market with stories about local athletes, teams and fans. We cover college football teams extensively, reporting on Alabama, Auburn, and South Alabama to name a few. High school football is also huge here. Our Friday night show, First and 10, brings all the excitement of the high school football experience home to our viewers. This is a job for someone who is ready to step out of the box, and into an exciting life here on the Gulf Coast.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Produce, write, shoot and edit daily sports-related stories for newscasts

- Produce and anchor weekend sports segments

- Assist in planning daily and long-term sports coverage for WALA-TV other Gray stations

- Produce and lead effort in production of sports specials throughout the year

Qualifications/Requirements:

◾ Successful applicants must possess creative storytelling skills, a terrific grasp of current events, strong organizational skills, and the ability to shoot and edit your own video. All anchors report daily but must also have the skills to produce, not stack, a fast-paced and informative sportscast.
