Aker Solutions' Engineering and Design team based in Mobile, AL is responsible for for the engineering and deisgn of subsea umbilicals and distribution equipment for various operators within the subsea oil and gas market. We need experienced individuals who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the Gulf of Mexico market. We are looking for a Sr. Designer

Responsibilities and Tasks

* May compile data, compute quantities, determine materials needed, and prepare cost estimates

* Read and interpret industry specific standards and client specifications;

* Correspond and interface with vendors, engineers and project managers;

* Develop complex design concepts with moderate assistance from the application engineer;

* Prepare complex level CAD 3D models using Solidworks;

* Prepare 2D manufacturing drawings (assembly, machining and welding) using Solidworks and Autocad;

* Create and maintain BoMs;

* Assist with building prototypes and in validation of builds on the production floor;

* Check work (models and drawings) from other designers

Qualifications and Personal Qualities

* Typically requires an associate or bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

* 5+ years' experience as a mechanical designer using 3D and 2D CAD software.

* Prior experience with Solidworks and Autocad strongly preferred;

* Capable of reading, interpreting and producing electrical and hydraulic schematics

* Able to interpret and apply GD&T on drawings and models;

* Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining and welding;

* Prior experience with subsea equipment (XMT, Manifolds, WOS, Umbilicals and / or Distribution Equipment) and/or process plant preferred;

* Prior experience with SAP PLM preferred

* Able to work independently, with minimal supervision in a very dynamic environment.
