Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer will lead multiple design projects and oversee the completion of deliverables

from beginning to end; helping to ensure consistency in the quality of work delivered. While Instructional

Designers plan, develop and manage their respective projects, the Instructional Designer could also serve

as a project lead; helping to plan activities, set priorities, troubleshoot issues, brainstorm ideas, and remove

obstacles at the onset and throughout the development of each project. The Instructional Designer will lead

design calls, participate in planning sessions, and assist in day-to-day administration.

The Instructional Designer will participate in creating assessments, as well as a methodology for calculating

ROI after the completion of each project. The Instructional Designer will provide feedback to their peers for

peer reviews; helping to ensure continued progress in the quality of work delivered. The Instructional Designer

should have a solid understanding of adult-learning theory and emerging technologies, as well as an

understanding of how to practically apply theory to the design process.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop effective and engaging learning experiences with a focus on user engagement

(gamification) by leveraging learning science and instructional design principles

• Find and implement innovative and disruptive technology experiences to close performance gaps and

promote digital adoption of tools and platforms

• Contribute to the administration of experience platforms and unique design requirements utilizing XAPI,

SCORM, AICC, and other experience standards

• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other stakeholders to discover and analyze learning

and experience data, and design experiences to supplement identified gaps

• Develop, introduce and explore cutting edge training technologies such as 360 Imaging, Augmented Reality,

Virtual Reality, Gamification and Simulations

• Design and develop strategies working closely with the Platforms analytics to understand the success,

adoption and impact of learning designs and programs.

• Review existing materials and perform content maintenance as needed, based on analysis of results of course

evaluations and data gathered from experiential data

• Scope and plan the time and effort needed for creating and maintaining deliverables

• Estimate, execute and meet development deadlines on-time and on-budget

• Collaborate with other COEs, business partners, key stakeholders and subject matter experts to support

various learning program and project initiatives

• Use innovative techniques and creative delivery mechanisms to reach a dispersed, global field organization;

Stay current and research new technologies and introduce to the business as they become practical

• Manage complex relationships with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-moving environment with short

deadlines and high business impact

• Participate and/or lead deliverable intake calls, design & planning sessions, and project update meetings

• Role requires 25% travel and availability during normal business hours (8am-5pm)

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

• Assist and innovate with creating Adaptive learning which dynamically creates learning experiences based

on learners prior interactions and learning

• Use Web Technologies to enhance and remove limitations of what E-learning authoring tools by modifying

web output package

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience, or an equivalent education and experience

• Experience working with geographically dispersed (remote) teams of people

• Experience in team environment with AGILE, ADDIE or similar development methodologies

• Proven track record of working successfully with cross-functional teams and external partners

• Strong organizational, time management, project management, prioritization, and follow up skills to manage

multiple projects simultaneously

• Knowledge of MS Office Suite and/or software applications related to job functions

• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, analytical/problem solving, presentation, and communications skills

• Ability to work effectively across functions to achieve desired customer satisfaction goals

• Excellent documentation, process building, presentation and facilitation skills

• Effective communication at all levels of the organization

• Above average problem solving and critical thinking skills to arrive at timely and practical solutions

• Takes direction and strategy from leadership, but is not dependent on continual oversite/guidance to make

meaningful business decisions

• Stewardship of strategic plans and leadership initiatives for SIO team

• Considerable knowledge of current web technologies - JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSON, React, VS Code,

Linters, Postman, GitHub, RESTFUL API’s, HTTP protocols and custom solutions

· E-learning authoring tools – Captivate, Rise, Articulate, Lectora

· Experience leveraging technology such as MS Teams or Slack to manage and organize remote teams and

incorporate them into the learning experience.
