Sr. Internal Communications & Engagement Strategist

The Internal Communications & Engagement Strategist is passionate about engaging and inspiring employees through robust communications and communications strategies. In this role, you will work closely with the CEO, regional leaders, Marketing and Nerd Experience (NX, known elsewhere as HR) to provide essential communications to connect our employees to The Nerdery's strategic vision, values, and to each other. You will drive the strategy, planning, implementation, and execution of internal communication activities and events for The Nerdery nationwide.

Primary Responsibilities

* Primary purveyor, voice and face of all internal communication

* Identify and create communications that immerse employees in The Nerdery's values, story and vision, as well as business goals and growth plans to ensure they have a full understanding of their roles and how their roles impact the success of the company

* Responsible for orchestrating the overall strategy and plan to inspire employees through communications including outside-the-box ways to inform, excite and engage employees

* Establish metrics to measure internal communication effectiveness, including employee sentiment and understanding of The Nerdery's value proposition and offerings

* Support individual business units in their internal communication needs to ensure organizational knowledge sharing and alignment

Skills/Qualifications

* Excellent communication skills – written and oral

* Ability to take complex business concepts and translate them to a digestible format for employees to connect with

* A strong influencer

* Good listener; two-way communicator who respectfully takes in feedback, responds with empathy, thoughtfully and neutrally

* Ability to absorb employee feedback and, in turn, articulate it back to leadership to make feedback actionable

* Must be able to travel frequently between all four Nerdery office locations

* Established track record in communications

* Demonstrated ability to manage internal client relationships, including executive level

* Proven ability to build consensus among diverse leaders and manage sensitive situations discreetly

* Effective time management; ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously with ability to prioritize competing deadlines

* Effective working in a cross-functional organization

Education/Experience

* Bachelor's degree from a four-year college, degree in English, Communications or Language Arts preferred

* 7-10 years progressive internal communications or related experience

* Experience in technology or professional services a plus
