Job Summary

Job Summary

The Minnesota Veterans Home – Minneapolis is looking for a part-time Food Service Worker. This position will prepare and portion menu and nourishment items. This position will also perform routine tasks including food preparation, serving meals to residents, dishwashing and cleaning the food service areas while following established food service policies and procedures. This position is initially eligible for health care benefits with partial employer contribution.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your application/resume clearly demonstrate fulfillment of the following minimum qualifications:

Knowledge of:

* Materials and methods used in preparing food

* Care and use of cooking utensils and equipment

* Food values and nutrition

Ability to:

* Perform simple cooking on a large scale

* Plan and prepare small meals on a household scale

* Perform simple cleaning and food service tasks

* Follow instructions

Preferred Qualifications:

The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:

* Experience in prepping, plating and serving food

* Knowledge of basic sanitation standards

Additional Requirements:

* A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background study will be conducted on all finalist for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background study.

* Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray),

* Finalists will be required to pass a job-related, pre-hire physical assessment.

* Employee reference checks will be conducted on all finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance. It also includes contact with the applicant's former employer(s).
