KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs a variety of mathematic calculations using standard procedures.
  • Using specification, sketches and customer layout drawings, generates final drawings and models of fans and related air handling equipment, including certified prints for customer submittals and manufacturing drawings for fabrication or purchase. This is done through computer aided design systems such as Inventor and SolidWorks.
  • Ability to design new fans and scale them for different sizes from simple design tables. This includes the ability to create models and drawings that can be coded into Driveworks for production.
  • Understand the requirements for input into Driveworks so all models/drawings created can be put into Driveworks.
  • Ability to design products for manufacturing with a basic understanding of the manufacturing capabilities of the various plants as well as the limitations.
  • Verifies dimensional integrity of part details, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the whole structure or project.
  • Make drawing adjustments or changes necessary or desired.
  • Draws finished designs from sketches, and assembly and detail drawings for special sales orders or changes to standard products.
  • Processes drawing corrections and engineering change requests (ECRs) as required.
  • Reviews and checks all drawing submittals, includes completion of customer and shop Print and Mailing Request forms.
  • Communicates with manufacturing, sales and other departments to resolve drafting errors, insufficient information on drawings and other drafting/order related issues.
  • Process all jobs including extensive layouts or demanding visualization skills, including performing calculations and creating all necessary drawings for the production and communication of TCF products.
  • Possess strong self-motivation, a positive attitude, ability to motivate others and puts effort to drive continuous improvement and organizational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree required or equivalent to 10+ years' experience
  • Working toward a bachelor's degree preferred
  • Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) certification within 3 years of the latest software release
  • Five years related experience in sheet metal and welded fabrication drafting or equivalent combination of education and experience, or familiarity with TCF Companies products, design, and application requirements, with one year of TCF drafting experience.
  • Ability to utilize CAD design associated with the order fulfillment process, new product development, or customized products.
  • Ability to perform assignments with instruction regarding tasks required and expected results, generally under minimal supervision from managers or higher-graded personnel.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret instructions, short correspondence, memos, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to respond to all inquiries from other internal departments or manufacturing personnel. Includes resolving design and drafting issues with manufacturing personnel and resolving order submittal errors with sales/order entry personnel.
