We have a world-class opportunity for a Chief Engineer to join our Thermo King business. You will be responsible for leading the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Engineering Excellence initiatives following the Enterprise framework, ensuring product robustness and developing technical talents within the engineering organization.

Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):

* Work with functional leaders to deploy standard processes for new product development, new technology introduction, and value analysis/value engineering.

* Provide technical leadership on new pursuits.

* Ensure technical integrity of designs.

* Technical risks are identified early

* Risk mitigation plans are established

* New product development teams have the right resources to properly engage and assure flawless new product launches and productivity project execution.

* Ensuring cross functional project interactions that are critical for successful deliver of new processes, product and industry solutions.

* Build engineering and technical capabilities through hands on work with project teams and individual engineers.

* Establish technical standards and standard work to ensure product robustness as well as providing guidance for engineering processes.

* Process owner of DFMEA and DVP&R.

* Partner with the engineering leadership team to identify key technical competencies critical to supporting business growth and delivering innovative customer solutions.

* Provide leadership in assessing organizational competency related to identified key technical competencies and develop and execute plans to build future capability.

* Communicate technical status and issues internally and coordinate with Commercial teams for external communications to Customers.

* Represent industry and SBU in user forums, regulatory reviews, and academic partnerships.

* Ability to travel up to 20%.

Minimum Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (or equivalent discipline) is required.

* Masters Degree or PhD is a preference.

* At least 15 years of experience in systems, product design, applications and/or other engineering areas of expertise is required.

* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and change managementskills and ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally—can conducta dialogue that is intellectually honest, brings out diversity of ideas andcreates the appropriate integration/connectivity.

* Demonstrated high level of technical project management andexperience with team processes and facilitation; preferably a thorough understanding of the New Product DevelopmentGate Systems.

* Highly-organized individual with problem-solving skills as well askeen analytical abilities.
