Accountant III

This position is responsible for assisting with the daily responsibilities within the Corporate Accounting team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financials.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

* Assist with month-end close process including preparing journal entries for recording activity to the general ledger and reviewing accounts to ensure completeness and accuracy.

* Prepare accurate and well supported daily and/or monthly account reconciliations.

* Lead the process for inter-company accounting and settlements.

* Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting to External/Regulatory reporting and internal management reporting teams.

* Complete audit requests as needed.

* Assist manager with process improvement initiatives including implementing new accounting systems.

* Proactively communicate with internal customers and foster collaboration between teams.

* Ensuring all procedures for role are thoroughly documented and making updates as necessary.

* Follow internal controls, policies and procedures when completing assigned duties.

* Perform other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications



* Two years' post-secondary education or two years of customer service, operations, financial, or clerical work experience


* Four-year degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or related field

Work Experience/Skills:


* Strong analytical and decision-making skills

* Ability to work independently with limited direction from supervisor

* Proficient in the use of various desktop and internet-based applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures and regulations

* Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete workload in a timely, effective manner

* Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills


* Basic knowledge of concepts, practices and compliance techniques for the financial services industry

* Strong understanding of TCF and/or retail banking operations

* Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations (Regulation CC, Uniform Commercial Code, Fair Credit Reporting Act, etc.)
