The Dept. of Physics invites applications for a full-time limited-term Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP). The primary requirement is for a VAP to teach General Physics with Algebra (PHYS 1001/2), a course with an emphasis on physics for pre-health/pre-dental students.

Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will lecture either three sections of PHYS 1001/2 or two sections of PHYS 1001/2 and one upper division class or laboratory, depending on the needs of the department and the background and experience of the successful applicant. The appointee will work closely with the Laboratory Director in coordinating the PHYS 1001/2 program.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Earned doctorate or a terminal degree. Five years of teaching experience or other suitable professional experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Applicants are invited with (i) a terminal degree in Physics, Biological Physics (Biophysics, Medical Physics), Applied Physics, or a related discipline, and (ii) experience in, and demonstrated aptitude for, teaching. The successful applicant will be organized and comfortable working with a large class. The ability to teach a range of upper division physics classes is desirable.
