Position Information

Position Title Perkins Loan Assistant Employment Status Part Time Position Status Limited Term If Limited Term (End Date of Assignment, Project, or Grant) 06/30/2019 Position Type Staff Position Overview

This position will work closely with the Coordinator of Student Loan Accounts to begin the process of assigning selected federal Perkins loans to the Department of Education. This includes assisting with any necessary clean up and reconciliation that may be needed to begin the assignment process. This position will process loan assignments, monitor loan status, and assist with any additional follow-up if needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.Complete and submit Perkins loan assignment for each borrower and loan (including manifest, federal assignment forms, promissory notes, repayment history and other documentation as needed).

2.Update Perkins Loan Assignment System (PLAS) with specific borrower and loan details.

3.Review/update the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS) for assigned loans.

4.Monitor PLAS, including follow up on status of assigned loans.

5.Gather and analyze information, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to supervisor.

6.Scan completed assignment packet into ImageNow.

7.Assist with providing operational support as needed.

8.Assist with additional special projects as needed.

9.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* A high school education

* Minimum of one-year experience with Federal Student Loan management (Perkins loan preferred)

* Strong financial aptitude with a high degree of accuracy necessary

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Bachelor's degree preferred Experience with PLAS and NSLDS websites

* Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information

* Must possess organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks

* Strong verbal, written and analytical skills

* Proficiency in desktop computing (Microsoft Office, email and internet)

* An appreciation of and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
