The Department of Social and Cultural Sciences invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2019.

Duties and Responsibilities

We seek applicants to teach primarily in the Sociology program, with expertise in the Sociology of Race and Ethnicity. Preference will be given to candidates who specialize in Latinx and/or Native American Studies. The candidate who is hired will be expected to teach sections of Research Methods (with both qualitative and quantitative components) as well as other courses relevant to their areas of expertise. The ability to contribute to the curriculum being developed around interdisciplinary Race and Ethnic Studies will be considered an asset, as will the ability to teach a course on social movements and/or popular culture.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Earned doctorate or a terminal degree. Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and high quality research.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly productivity, and a clear research agenda. A Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field is required by the time of appointment.
