Senior Automation Engineer

Job Summary

Responsibilities:

* Participate in the development and implementation of Concho's automation strategies for facility construction, upgrades, and well surveillance

* Provide a leadership role in the development of standardized PLC programming emphasizing reliability, scalability, and operational requirements

* Develop processes and standards for management of process control software and systems to insure reliability and adherence to Concho standards

* Generation of project documentation for construction, programming, and commissioning of facilities

* Provide on-site project support and training for installation, programming, commissioning.

* Provide technical recommendations for automation software, hardware, and instrumentation

* Assist in evaluation of new production/automation technologies

* Interface with IT groups to insure maintenance of standards and compliance with IT policies

* Work with suppliers and vendors to insure product and service availability to support a high level of activity

* Knowledge of SCADA system configuration, capabilities, and input requirements

Education/Experience Required

* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related degree

* Minimum of 5 years working experience in oil and gas automation with two years of project management experience

* Demonstrated work experience and understanding of oil and gas facilities processes, artificial lift, and well surveillance

* Advanced PLC design and programming skills

* Knowledge and experience with digital and analog I/O including installation and troubleshooting

* Demonstrated project management skills and ability to work multiple projects concurrently

* Ability to effectively communicate with management, technical, and field personnel

* Proficiency with serial and IP based communication systems

* Strong knowledge of automation and electrical design principles and industry standards
