Job Summary:

The Referral Coordinator is responsible for facilitating referral and imaging requests from our providers and patients of MHPC. She/he provides a superior level of service excellence to patients, physicians and staff in a caring and supportive manner. The Referral Coordinator protects patients' rights by maintaining strict patient confidentiality of personal and financial information at all times.

The Referral Coordinator maintains office operations by following established policies and procedures and contributes to the team effort by accomplishing results as needed.

Key duties and Responsibilities:

* Complete referrals and diagnostic imaging orders in eCW according to established procedures as requested by patients and approved by providers. Assist patients with making referral appointments.

* Complete and fax orders for diagnostic and routine testing as requested by the provider(s).

* Perform precertification and prior authorizations as needed.

* Track referral and imaging orders and comment over its status.

* Follow up to obtain the referral or imaging reports in a timely manner.

* Manage telephone encounters assigned to the "Referral Coordinator inbox". Address each issue appropriately.

* Answer telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner within minimum rings. Create telephone encounter for all patient messages. Distribute as appropriate based on office protocols.

* Optimize patient satisfaction by scheduling specialist and or radiology appointments for patients in accordance with established procedures and within appropriate time frame.

* Manage assigned documents in eCW. Attach each document to the appropriate patient record, name document according to the established naming protocol and forward to the appropriate staff person to review and address.

* Manage requests for medical records following HIPAA compliant procedures.

* Monitor office supplies. Notify Central Staffing Manager of any supplies to be ordered.

* Help patient in distress by responding appropriately to emergencies.

* Perform any related tasks as delegated by the Central Staffing Manager including referral appointment monitoring, imaging order monitoring, etc.

* All other job related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent

* Effective Communication both written and verbal

* Medical Terminology

* Excellent grammar, punctuation and spelling

* Time management, active listening and exceptional customer service

* Excellent telephone etiquette

Preferred Skills:

* College degree

* HIPPA knowledge

* Ambulatory office based physician practice, preferably in primary care.

* EHR knowledge/use.
