Job Summary:

Safely delivers food between the NCHS main campus and Blue Lagoon Cafeteria. Loads truck/van and delivers large crates, packages, pallets and/or equipment as needed to specified location. Performs routine preventive care on vehicle as wells as maintains vehicle clean, neat, and organized. Follows all Department of Transportations (DOT) guidelines and regulations. Makes all deliveries in a safe, accurate, and timely manner to appropriate and authorized location. Works under the supervision of the Food Service Supervisor.

Minimum Job Requirements:

* Active and valid State of Florida driver's license with an approved driving record pursuant to our policy and maintained throughout employment.

* 1 year previous driving experience required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* High School education or equivalent preferred.

* Excellent customer service skills required.

* Excellent driving skills and able to follow DOT guidelines and regulations.

* Ability to follow simple instructions to accomplish repetitive tasks.

* Able to work well under stress and in emergency situations.

* Ability to perform basic driving functions as well as maneuver in tight spaces.

* Ability to safely operate equipment, such as, but not limited to, dollies, hand trucks, pallet jacks, breakdown, etc.

* Able to read, write, speak and understand English to relay information, request supplies, and write identifying information.

* Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

* Able to function independently and reliably with little supervision.

* Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with clients and co-workers.

* Able to solve problems and meet objectives before being asked.

* Some computer knowledge is preferred.

* Food safety and sanitation guidelines knowledge.

Essential Job Duties:

* Assists with special request and projects in an efficient, effective and cooperative manner. Accepts changes and learns new assignments quickly. Follows all DOT guidelines and regulations.

* Maintains and operates assigned vehicle in a safe, efficient manner and maintains vehicle's appearance to standards that assure a favorable public impression. Maintains security & cleanliness.

* Follows sanitation and safety guidelines when handling food and equipment.

* Performs equipment checks & routine preventative maintenance procedures on vehicle. Maintains checklist of vehicle operations prior to use. Immediately reports any vehicle problems to management.

* Takes truck to designated place for repair as needed/ approved. Prepares repair order form for repaired vehicle and attaches receipt.

* Completes daily log of all tasks and activities performed in the day. Provides completed log to Food Service Supervisor. Documents time and temperature of food products on log.

* Ensures hot and cold items are kept in compliance with company standards and meet all sanitation and safety requirements.

* Reports back to Food Service Supervisor when not making deliveries/pick-ups to assist in Food Service Operation.

* Communicates problems and opportunities for improvement to Supervisor or others as appropriate in a professional manner.

* Performs scheduled routine pick-ups as per approved route. Delivers to appropriate location and obtains authorized signatures. Assures priority /refrigerated packages are secured and delivered first.

* Ensures all deviations from route receive approval from Supervisor.

* Loads and delivers large crates, packages, and pallets to NCHS off-site locations and various departments. Performs deliveries for special system events.

* Responds to concerns from co-workers in a positive and friendly manner.

* Demonstrates special awareness of potential safety hazards inherent in parking and moving carts through off-site hallways. Operates all departmental transportation equipment carefully and safely.

* Uses proper body mechanics and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.

* Operates hydraulic lift gate and demonstrates knowledge of air brake system.

* Encourages and promotes teamwork, customer service, and safety. Works with co-workers and management team to achieve departmental goals.

Common Duties:

* Maintains accountability by ensuring compliance thru timely completion of licensures, certifications, all competencies, health requirements (PPD, N95, Flu, etc.), and education requirements.

* Maintains accountability and timekeeping expectations as outlined by MCHS Timekeeping and Attendance policy and procedures. Ensures behavior is compliant with communication standards

* Ensures behavior meets and/or exceeds targeted service scores as measured by the Service Index and/or the internal departmental service survey.
