Talent Relations Specialist

Summary: Talent Relations Specialist performs a variety of duties to promote employee welfare, such as resolving employee relations issues and promoting positive employee experience. The central objective of this team member is to ensure our organization's treatment of employees is fair, respectful, and consistent with the framework of our core business values. The ideal candidate for this position has strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to work successfully on a broad spectrum of employee relations issues and projects. This candidate will also evaluate and resolve employee relations, labor relations, and work-related problems, and meets with management to determine appropriate action according to the company and governmental rules, regulations, and procedures, and need for compliance.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

Employee Relations

* Provide a confidential and unbiased resource for employees and people leaders to share concerns, report observations, and ask questions

* Conduct investigations and other high-leveraged allegations in order to mitigate risk and minimize legal action.

* Investigate and work closely with Talent Relations Manager to respond to government agency inquiries including DOL, NLRB and EEOC/OCRC

* Partner with appropriate HR team members when conducting larger and/or more far-reaching investigations to include detailed interviews, fact finding, and providing recommendations to The Talent Relations Manager and People Leaders on appropriate actions/response

* Assists in the development and execution of corrective action and developmental action plans to address problems

* Diagnose and identify proactive steps to avoid recurring issues

* Provide consultation and recommendations to staff and managers in the interpretation of policies and procedures, including conducting training/educational sessions to staff and managers

* Recommend corrective action that aligns with Mimeo's policies, practices and culture. Continually review policies for compliance with current employment laws

* Recognize compliance issues and suggest solutions or best practices resolve


* Conducts research on assigned compliance topics and projects

* Manage the confidentiality of data

* Under the guidance of the Talent Relations Manager, provide insight on trends and potential strategies that need to be escalated.

* Create and maintain Talent Relations metrics including, but not limited to turnover, active headcount, etc.

Employee Engagement

* Partner with Talent Relations Manager and the Employee Engagement Committee in designing and executing activities designed to enrich morale and employee commitment. Support leadership to recognize and demonstrate appreciation to employees consistently

* Conduct employee surveys to obtain employee feedback. Identify employee concern and monitor overall employee satisfaction.

Required Skills and Competencies

* Bachelor's degree in HR or related business field

* 3-5 years of demonstrated employee relations expertise in areas of performance management, progressive action and/or general employee relations.

* PHR Certification or SHRM-CP Preferred

* Knowledge of employment laws such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, AAP, etc

* Excellent knowledge of Human Resources processes and best practices including but not limited to performance management

* Ability to effectively interact with associates at all levels within the organization

* Strong written/oral communication and presentation skills

* Resourceful, highly organized, and able to prioritize

* Ability to maintain confidentiality

* Strong computer skills; proficient in all Google Applications. Past experience with HRIS systems preferred.

* Deliver exceptional customer service consistently to every customer

* Ability to exercise sound and prudent judgment

* Ability to effectively deal with sensitive issues, often involving interpersonal conflict

* Willing to assume other related responsibilities as delegated and assigned

* Demonstrated passion for employee relations, investigations, and labor/employment law

* Solid understanding of federal and state employment and labor laws

* Experience in conducting investigative work, including claimant, witness, and accused employee interviews, investigative data analysis, and production of investigative documentation
