Purpose and Scope

Works under limited direction to direct a staff of Instructional Support Advisors, Analysts, and Professional Development and Evaluation Clerk, in efficient and effective operations of the Professional Development and Support office.

Essential Job FunctionsSupervises direct report(s) to effectively recruit, train, motivate, delegate, monitor, and evaluate their activities, including hiring, firing, and disciplinary decisions. Provides staff with resources needed to successfully perform work.Manages the Instructional Support Advisors including their training, selection, evaluation, and troubleshoot as necessaryManages the Instructional Support Analysts as they oversee the special department projects.Manages the Professional Development and Evaluation Clerk as they provide clerical and administrative support to the team.Oversees the content based instructional support and develops a strategy and ensures implementation to monitor the progress of content leads and teachers receiving instructional support and adjusts the support accordingly.Works collaboratively with other managers and management representatives in the Academics Office to achieve a system-wide result. Formulates local targets, goals, and activities that are in synch with and support the broader goals and objectives of the organization.Works with principals to ensure understanding of the content based instructional support, what is available to them as resources, and how to develop cycles of professional learning. Communicates with the Professional Development and Support team to ensure that the appropriate instructional support advisors are properly trained for providing content based instructional support and guidance.Executes the responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards. Uses personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles.Assists in the development of a departmental budget, presents and defends program budget requirements as it applies to the Professional Development and Support Department. Oversees and submits program expenditures and prepares financial forms and reports.Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence and files related to assigned service, activities, and operations; provides for appropriate research and compiles reports.Performs other duties as assigned or directed.Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, Human Resources, Education or a related field; Plus, four (4) years of related experience in a related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience totaling eight (8) years to include professional experience as a teacher, principal, or Professional Development leader. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master's Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment; must be able to use hands and fingers for sign language.

Unavoidable Hazards: The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.
