Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking to fill a Functional Manager Level M2 position. The Manager will be responsible for the Functional Systems Engineering team in Melbourne, Florida and will report to the Engineering Functional Site Manager. This is a dual role position serving as the primary Systems Functional Engineering point of contact as well as a senior Hardware and/or Software and/or Systems Engineer. They will spend 20% of their time on functional management and 80% of their time supporting programs.

Responsibilities:

Will be responsible for day-to-day communications, performance assessment and feedback, career counseling, professional development, employee rewards and recognition, and resolving personnel issues and managing a staff. Will provide project staffing support with recruiting, interviews and hiring. Will be responsible for recommending employees for raises and promotions. Will provide detailed employee performance feedback, periodic 1-on-1 meetings, annual mid-term and end of year performance appraisals. Will provide direct Systems engineering project support. The selected candidate will ensure MS sector development processes for all initiatives are followed. Trains, coaches and mentors other engineers and support staff within the functional organization. Responsible for evaluation of current project requirements and assures staff has adequate statement of work to optimize contract performance.

Other management duties may include, but are not limited to:

* Annual engagement survey coordination

* New business acquisition, proposal and special projects support

* Support Functional Engineering initiatives

* Assist with staff workload forecast preparation

* Identifying and implementing new or improved tools and processes to increase team efficiency

* Acquire the necessary computers, equipment and tools to enable the team to accomplish their assigned job

Other knowledge may include, but are not limited to:

* Management of requirements, include decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation

* Understands and utilizes the NGMS Engineering process and tools.

* Knowledgeable with Systems architectures and operations which could include radar processing, MatLab and LabView

* Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems

* Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints

* Leads Engineering teams with program execution

* Performs detailed data analysis and trending

* Mentor Engineers on all phases of the Program

* Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into specifications

* Creates, reviews, and maintains critical system documentation

* Strong interpersonal skills

Basic Qualifications:

* BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field with 10 years of relevant experience in engineering development projects or Master's degree with 8 years of relevant experience in engineering development projects

* Experience in the design, implementation and delivery of sophisticated hardware and or software systems throughout the build/test/release lifecycle

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* US Citizenship is required with an active DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

* MS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field

* Active DoD Top Secret Clearance, SCI or other SAP/SCI levels

* Proven track record leading high-performing development teams

* 3 years IPT or Functional Management experience

* Business Development and/or proposal experience
