Ultrasound Technologist, Breast (Breast Sonographer) - 2 days per week

Providence is calling an Ultrasound Technologist to it's Breast Cancer Center at the Providence Plaza in Medford, Oregon. We are seeking a Caregiver who can work 2 days of their choice per week (usually a 6 or 8 hour work day), Monday-Friday. This role will be designated as on-call/per diem, but you will have a set schedule at least 4-6 weeks in advance and will regularly be asked to work 2 scheduled work days. As a perk, this role will also offer an additional 15% pay premium in lieu of benefits.

In this position you will perform all breast ultrasound techniques and examinations. Under the supervision of a radiologist, scans call-back examinations from abnormal mammograms, scans symptomatic areas needed and screens high-risk patients as directed. You will assist Radiologists in such procedures as needle biopsies, needle-guided aspirations, wire localizations and wire-free LOCalizer procedures. You will also Maintains established department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures, and objectives as well as improving organization performance program, safety, environmental, and infection control policies.

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification:
    • New graduates must be board eligible and obtain permanent certification within six months of hire
  • Current OBMI as a Medical Sonographer:
    • New graduates must have OBMI temporary license upon hire and obtain permanent license within six months
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Completion of pledge to Image Gently/Image Wisely within one month of hire
  • Adherence to appropriate professional credentialing practice standards
  • Expert knowledge of anatomy and physiology, imaging principles and practices, as well as the ability to obtain high-quality images
  • Computer skills and knowledge of keyboard functionality

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Certification in diagnostic breast ultrasound or registry eligible
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience in diagnostic breast ultrasounds
