Position Overview

Portfolio Management & Capital Markets Full-Time Analyst Rotation Program

Freddie Mac's Portfolio Management and Capital Markets Divisions are responsible for managing the ~$2.5 trillion mortgage guarantee and investment portfolios through secondary mortgage market activities such as asset-liability management, loan purchases, servicing transactions, securitization and credit risk transfer.

This is a two-year full-time rotational program designed to provide Analysts with the opportunity to gain a unique and diverse perspective across four key areas within these Divisions and build experiences at the front-lines of the Single Family business and mortgage capital market initiatives at Freddie Mac.

Analysts will get a chance to learn and work alongside seasoned professionals on various desks to analyze and support a diverse set of transactions, trades, and strategies including the firm's growing credit risk transfer deals, cash window purchases, whole loan private placement sales, servicing capital markets, programmatic securitization offerings, and asset-liability management.

Ideal candidates for this program are highly motivated, analytical thinkers who are committed towards building a long-term career in capital markets and mortgage finance. It is anticipated that high-performing Analysts will be offered a permanent position at the end of the two-year rotational program.

Job Description

Front-Office Portfolio Management & Capital Markets Experience

On a day-to-day basis, Analysts will support the desk's development, execution, and management of transactions that manage our risk exposures and liquidity within the U.S. housing markets. The program is designed for analysts to build competencies in fixed income valuation and financial transaction analysis, gain expertise in the US economy, as well as, the primary and secondary markets within the mortgage financial system, and technical quantitative skills (e.g., Advanced Excel, SAS, SQL, etc.).

Throughout the rotational program, Analysts will have the opportunity to be exposed to key initiatives across four portfolio management or capital markets desks very early in their careers and, at times, may be asked to support highly visible initiatives for senior management.

Business Education & Leadership Opportunities

Analysts will develop a strong background in finance, business, and capital markets through professional work experience. In addition, Analysts will be provided program-specific continuing education and development opportunities, including trainings led directly by senior management.

This program is designed to provide you with opportunities to strengthen your professional network within the company, and industry, as well as provide access to key mentorships that can help guide you throughout your career. New Analysts within this program will be involved with a larger analyst community across other business programs and be integrated within all community and social events.


3.0 GPA or above

* Demonstrated interest in finance and capital markets through academic and professional experience

* Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with stakeholders across the firm and interact with global investors/clients

* The program is seeking top candidates graduating in the following disciplines: Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, and other related fields.

* Ability to begin full time employment in June 2019

* Recent Grads: December 2018 or June 2019
